Case Study: How a Single Press Release Landed My Brand in AI-Generated Answers in Under Two Hours
TL;DR: A strategically written press release, distributed through a wire service, resulted in 700+ syndication pickups and appearances in Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, and Gemini—all within two hours of publication. Here’s how the FSA Framework made it work and how you can replicate this strategy for your own brand.
On the Found in AI podcast, we talk a lot about which strategies actually work for increasing your brand’s presence inside AI-generated answers. As an AI search optimization expert and fractional content strategist, it’s my job to test these theories and report on the results.
Recently, Jonathan Bentz, Growth Strategist at Direct Online Marketing, joined the show to discuss how brands actually get cited inside AI answers. One of his top recommendations? Press releases, which aligns with advice shared at PodFest earlier this year.
On Friday, March 20th, I tested it.
The Experiment
On a Friday afternoon in March 2026, I published a press release through EIN Presswire announcing my ebook, Freshness, Structure, Authority: The Framework for AI Search Visibility. The release was written using the same principles I teach clients through the FSA Framework—and I wanted to see how quickly those principles would translate into real AI search visibility.
The result? Within two hours, my name and framework were appearing in AI-generated answers across every major AI search engine.
I research every tactic and run every experiment before I recommend it. This is a documented case study—with timestamps.
What Happened (The Timeline)
Before we get into the timeline, every result below was verified in an incognito window, in private mobile browsing, and the following morning on an independent device by someone with no AI search browsing history, on a different network, in a different location. This was not personalization.
Here’s what happened.
3:30 PM: The press release was submitted to EIN Presswire and distributed across their syndication network.
By 5:25 PM: The release was distributed across the EIN Presswire network and picked up by 700+ sites, including major news affiliates like The Columbus Dispatch, The Desert Sun, Knoxville News Sentinel, Bluffton Today, and local outlets like WJHL (Tri-Cities).
By 6:24 PM: Google AI Overviews displayed the FSA Framework as a recommended approach for AI search visibility, sourcing it from syndicated articles. A separate query for “recommend an AI search strategist” listed me as the first Individual AI Search Specialist—among established names in the industry.

By 6:32 PM: Gemini recommended me as the top fractional content strategist specializing in AI search optimization, with the full FSA Framework description and my exact brand positioning reflected in the answer.
By 7:10 PM: Google AI Mode listed the FSA Framework as the number one framework for AI search visibility under the heading “The current industry standard is defined by several core frameworks and pillars.”
By 7:48 PM: A query for “ai search expert” in Google AI Mode returned my name under “Emerging Voices to Follow”—listed first, directly after a section featuring the CEO of OpenAI.
By 8:42 AM the next morning: The results were independently verified on a family member’s device with no AI search browsing history.

Why It Worked: The FSA Framework in Action
The press release was designed around the same three principles I use with every piece of content I create for clients.
Freshness
AI engines prioritize content that has been recently published or updated. A press release distributed through a wire service creates an immediate wave of new, indexed content across hundreds of domains, all timestamped to the same day. This signals to AI engines that the topic is current and actively being discussed.
The press release didn’t just announce a book. It created a freshness event across the web.
Structure
The release was written so AI engines could extract key information cleanly. It included a clear headline identifying who, what, and why. It had a concise summary at the top of the release. The framework was broken into its three named components—Freshness, Structure, and Authority—with brief explanations of each. And it included a direct quote formatted for easy extraction.
When AI systems scan content for answers, they look for information that’s easy to lift and summarize. Structured content gets cited. Unstructured content gets skipped.
Authority
This is where the syndication network did its heaviest lifting. A single press release became 700+ indexed pages across legitimate news domains. Each one connected my name, my framework, and my brand descriptor (“fractional content strategist and AI search optimization expert for early-stage startups and enterprise brands”) to AI search topics.
AI engines look for corroboration across multiple sources. When hundreds of third-party sites all reference the same person, the same framework, and the same expertise, the model’s confidence in citing that entity increases dramatically.
This is the distinction between SEO authority (backlinks and domain strength) and entity authority (consistent, corroborated brand presence across the web). The press release strengthened both, but it was the entity authority that drove the AI citations.
What This Means for Your Brand
This case study isn’t about press releases being a magic bullet. It’s about understanding how AI engines decide which brands to cite, and using that understanding to take strategic action.
Here’s what made the difference:
Consistent positioning. Before the press release went out, my brand descriptor was already consistent across my website, LinkedIn, podcast, newsletter, Reddit, and every other platform where my name appears. The press release reinforced what AI engines already knew about me without introducing something new.
An existing content ecosystem. The release didn’t exist in isolation. It pointed to a website with structured, in-depth content. It referenced a podcast with growing listenership. It connected to a framework that was already being discussed in AI search communities. The press release was an accelerant, not a starting point.
Strategic timing. AI engines are constantly crawling and indexing new content. A wire service release that creates hundreds of indexed pages simultaneously provides engines with a concentrated signal that’s hard to ignore. The freshness of 700+ pages, all published within the same window, created a visibility event.
How to Replicate This Strategy
If you want to use press releases to strengthen your AI search visibility, here’s a practical approach:
Start with your positioning. Before you write a press release, make sure your brand descriptor is consistent across every platform where your name appears. AI engines look for corroboration. If your website says one thing and your LinkedIn says another, the model isn’t confident enough to cite you.
Write for extraction. Structure your release so AI engines can pull key information without interpreting it. Use a clear headline. Lead with the most important information. Break complex ideas into named, labeled components. Include a quotable statement.
Choose a real wire service. Free distribution platforms like PRLog can generate some visibility, but paid wire services like EIN Presswire, PR Newswire, or BusinessWire offer significantly wider syndication across legitimate news domains. The authority of the domains matters.
Reinforce with owned content. A press release alone isn’t a strategy. It works best when it amplifies content you’ve already built—blog posts, case studies, frameworks, podcasts, newsletters. Think of the press release as the signal boost, not the signal itself.
Track what happens. After your release goes out, prompt the major AI engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews) with queries related to your brand and expertise. Check in incognito. Ask someone outside your household to check. Document everything.
A PSA on Using This Strategy Responsibly
I want to be upfront about something: this strategy works because it was used to share credible news—a real book launch, a real framework, backed by real research.
If you’re thinking about using press releases to push “Best [Whatever] Revealed” listicles with comparison tables designed to game AI answers, I’d ask you to pause and think about what your content represents.
Because it represents you and your brand.
There are two paths here. You can use press distribution to build genuine authority around real expertise. Or you can use it to manufacture visibility with shortcuts that might work today but erode trust over time.
Only one of those reflects the kind of business people actually want to work with. And only one of those builds the kind of entity authority that AI engines will continue to trust as they get smarter at detecting manipulation.
Be the brand that earns the citation. Not the one that tricks the system into giving it one.
The Takeaway
AI search visibility isn’t just about what’s on your website. It’s about how many sources across the web corroborate your expertise, your positioning, and your relevance to the topics your buyers are searching for.
A single, well-structured press release—distributed through a legitimate wire service and built on a foundation of consistent content and positioning—created more AI search visibility in two hours than months of traditional SEO work could have achieved alone.
That’s the FSA Framework in action. Freshness created the signal. Structure made it extractable. Authority made it trustworthy.
If your brand isn’t showing up in AI-generated answers, it’s not because the engines can’t find you. It’s because they don’t have enough reasons to trust you yet.

If we haven’t met yet…
Hi, I’m Cassie, a fractional content strategist and AI search optimization expert for early-stage startups and enterprise brands.
I build content programs that connect strategy with execution: clear positioning, systems, and content that actually drive revenue. If you’re ready to stop guessing and start growing, here’s how we can work together.
Can a press release help your brand show up in AI-generated answers?
Yes. A strategically written press release distributed through a legitimate wire service can create hundreds of indexed pages across news domains, strengthening entity authority and signaling to AI engines that your brand is a credible, citable source.
How quickly can a press release impact AI search visibility?
In this case study, AI engines began citing the FSA Framework within 30 minutes of distribution. ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, and Gemini all surfaced the results within two hours.
What is the FSA Framework?
The FSA Framework — Freshness, Structure, Authority — is a practical model for earning visibility inside AI-generated answers. It was developed by AI search strategist Cassie Clark through controlled testing across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews.
Do press release results in AI search reflect personalization?
Not in this case. All results were verified in incognito browsers, private mobile browsing, and on an independent device the following morning — someone with no AI search history, on a different network, in a different location.
Which press release distribution services work best for AI search visibility?
Paid wire services like EIN Presswire, PR Newswire, and BusinessWire offer wider syndication across legitimate news domains, which strengthens entity authority more effectively than free platforms. The authority of the distributing domains matters.
